The next time that you’re in a department store and you are offered a sample sachet of an expensive new skin care product, there’s a good chance that its packaging provenance is closer to home than Paris, Milan or Rome.

A Clean Sweep: Colleagues from print specialists The OPM Group celebrate after winning 11 prestigious European Print Awards

The OPM Group have carved a successful niche in the market for high quality trial packaging - in response to demand from cosmetics and healthcare companies.

The group has now swept the board in the 2006 European Flexographic Technical Association (EFTA) Print Awards.

The awards – regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the print industry – were presented by former international athlete Roger Black at a ceremony in Birmingham.

OPM received 11 EFTA awards – 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze prizes, including a gold environmental award for specialist production of an innovative water soluble label.

They swept the board in the flexible packaging categories, with wins including Gold, Silver and Bronze for packaging and a gold award for a high quality self adhesive label.

OPM provides flexible packaging and specialist labels to a range of commercial partners including major health and cosmetics companies, supermarkets, food manufacturers and brewing groups.

The print group has carved a successful niche in the market for high quality trial packaging for some of the world’s top brands.

OPM Managing Director Chris Ellison says: “I am particularly pleased that we have dominated the flexible packaging category. We have only been producing flexibles for four years and have quickly demonstrated our capability to deliver great quality. These awards are a great endorsement of our commitment to the finest standards in print.”

He adds: “We are delighted to won across a range of categories. The European Flexographic Technical Association is a highly regarded technical body, and their assessment of printers’ technical quality is very important in the market place.”

The group has developed a strong reputation for their technical excellence, and the latest wins mean a total of more than sixty international awards since 2003.
